From Thursday, May 29 to Sunday, June 1, 2025, Poreč was the epicenter of student sports in Croatia, hosting the finals of the national university sports championships – UniSport HR Finals 2025. This major event brought together over a thousand student-athletes from across the country, with 170 teams representing 23 higher education institutions.
Competitions were held in twelve different sports, and the spirit of sportsmanship spread throughout Poreč and its surroundings, where all matches and events took place. Beyond the competitive aspect, UniSport HR Finals transcends a traditional sporting event – offering students opportunities for personal development, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, knowledge exchange, and the acquisition of valuable organizational and teamwork skills.
The University of Rijeka stood out as one of the more successful participants. Its students competed in 3×3 basketball, handball, volleyball, beach volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, and chess. Ultimately, the University of Rijeka won seven medals in the following sports: chess, beach volleyball, badminton, table tennis, and tennis – confirming both the breadth and quality of their athletic achievements.
This year’s UniSport HR Finals once again highlighted the importance of investing in student sports, not only as a form of competition, but as a powerful tool for building a healthier, more connected, and more motivated student community.
