The project was developed in collaboration with the Rijeka Academic Sports Association and Centre for Sport of the University of Rijeka to increase the number of recreational activities offered to both students and University staff as well as to citizens. This project consists of 4 sports events during the year to promote the importance of recreation among students and staff.
UNIRI Moves in Kastav – fall
A simple orientational race where a compass is not necessary and a map is provided by the event organizer. It takes place in a beautiful Kastav forest close to Rijeka. Before each race, an educational workshop on a variety of topics takes place (first aid in hiking, movement for the blind and visually impaired, etc.)
In collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine Student Association (FOSS MedRi), this year’s theme is the Basic Life Support (BLS). RiStart is a basic life support course including the use of an external automatic defibrillator that unites students of the University of Rijeka. The goal is to train and educate people outside the medical profession on the adequate performance of basic life support. Sudden cardiac death is still one of the leading causes of death in Europe, affecting between 350,000 and 700,000 people a year.
The 4th edition of the UNIRI Moves project will take place in Kastav on Saturday, November 9. It is an orientation race in which students, UNIRI staff, and all other citizens can participate free of charge!
The start and finish are in front of the “Loža” restaurant (Kastav centre).
The track will have 10 control points spread over 10 kilometers within the Kastav forest, and the winner is the one who collects all the points in the shortest possible time.
Registrations are open, and the maximum number of participants is 150!
