World competitions

FISU World University Championships gathers national university teams from around the world to compete in about 20 sports, the choice of which depends on the year. These championships are organized within the competence of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and take place every two years (in the year when the Summer Universiade is not scheduled).

The Croatian Academic Sports Association is the governing body responsible for the participation of national teams in university sports. In cooperation with the respective national sports federations, it organizes and oversees the participation of Croatian national student teams in the World University Championships as well.

Members of the Croatian national team at the FISU World University Championships are students with Croatian citizenship under the age of 24, regardless of their home country or university they attend. They become a part of the national team upon the invitation of the elector, who is appointed in collaboration with the respective national federation, and if Croatia is participating in the FISU championship for that particular sport.
