The new season of the University of Rijeka’s Unisport League has officially begun! The first competition, a table tennis tournament, kicked off a season of sporting events that will bring together students from the University’s constituent faculties throughout the academic year. A large turnout, an excellent atmosphere and a great sporting spirit marked the start of the season and promise exciting months ahead.
What is the Unisport League?
The Unisport League is a university sports competition for students who want to play sports both recreationally and competitively alongside their studies. Students compete on behalf of their faculties and departments, which adds extra excitement to the competition as well as a strong sense of community and belonging to the institution they represent.
The league runs throughout the academic year and includes a range of sports, from team to individual disciplines. Its aim is to encourage students to be physically active on a regular basis, bring them together outside lecture halls and laboratories, and give them the chance to meet peers from other faculties. For many participants, the Unisport League is an opportunity to make new friendships and memories that last well beyond their student years.
A special strength of the league is its openness. Alongside experienced competitors, tournaments regularly feature people playing in an organized event for the first time, and it is precisely this mix that creates a relaxed yet competitive atmosphere.
