Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, in cooperation with the Sports Association of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, is launching a new program called “Sport Outdoors” as part of the celebrations marking the prestigious title of PGŽ – European Region of Sport 2026. The program aims to encourage citizens to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle and to revitalize public spaces through a variety of sports and recreational activities.

The program is open to all age groups and offers accessible, professionally guided physical activity. It will run for five months, from May to October, with a break in August. Most activities begin this week, on May 4, while programs in Čavle and Bakar are already underway.

At all locations, sessions are led by licensed trainers. Additional activities vary by location and include Nordic walking, dance programs, chi kung tai chi, and beach volleyball.

Activities take place in public spaces — squares, parks, and promenades — bringing sport into citizens’ everyday lives. The program covers around 17 locations across the county: Rijeka (Mlaka Park and Campus), Delnice, Čavle, Matulji – Bregi, Cres, Rab, Crikvenica, Mošćenička Draga, Bakar, Volosko, Viškovo, Čabar, Krk, and Mali Lošinj.

All activities are free of charge. A full schedule and location details are available at: PGŽ European Region of Sport 2026 – Sport Outdoors Program

Local residents and students are especially welcome to join the regular sessions held every Thursday from May 7, starting at 8:15 a.m., at the Campus outdoor sports court (formerly the Military Playground). No registration is required. For more information, contact coach Bojana at +385 91 784 5469.
