Rijeka academis sports associtation

The Association is an umbrella organization for the promotion, improvement, advancement, and organizational development of sports at the University of Rijeka. It was founded at the beginning of 2005 as an association alliance, and any legal entity (association) dealing with the organization of student sports activities at the University of Rijeka can become its member.

Students of the University of Rijeka have participated in organized sports competitions since 2004. In the academic year 2005/2006, a sports competition system was established through the Unisport League program. It encompasses tournaments within the university’s constituents and sports competitions between different constituents (in 17 sports, men’s and women’s competitions), through which university teams are formed to participate in national and European competitions. To this day, student-athletes continuously achieve excellent results both in the organizational and competitive sense. The University of Rijeka has hosted 4 European and 2 world university championships, held in Croatia for the first time. In addition, the University also organized the 2016 European University Games Zagreb – Rijeka.

Each constituent has a student sports association that oversees sports activities. Students running the association make sure that everyone is informed about the competitions and other events in which all students can participate.
