A second-year undergraduate student of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Studies of the University of Rijeka, Sara Pejak, is this year\u2019s recipient of the Rector\u2019s Award for Sport of the University of Rijeka. This prestigious recognition was awarded to her for outstanding sporting results achieved during the previous competitive season, as well as for successfully balancing academic responsibilities with elite sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sara Pejak is a member of KK Mlaka Rijeka and the Croatian women\u2019s bowling national team, with whom she has achieved a series of top-level results on both the domestic and international stage. She particularly stood out at the World Championship for senior women held in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r, Hungary, from 27 May to 7 June 2025, where she won first place in the team competition with the Croatian national team, becoming a world champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Competing for her Rijeka club KK Mlaka, she continued to achieve success in club competitions. At the World Cup in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, in 2024, she won first place in the team event, while at the Champions League held in M\u00f6rfelden, Germany, in March 2025, she and her team won the bronze medal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the national level, Sara Pejak achieved notable results in the 2024\/2025 season. With KK Mlaka, she won the Croatian First League title in the senior women\u2019s category and first place in the U23 team competition. She also became U23 doubles national champion, while finishing second in the Croatian Cup team competition. In addition, she won several bronze medals in doubles and sprint disciplines and achieved a notable individual ranking in the U23 category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her achievements have not gone unnoticed in sports awards and recognitions. As a member of KK Mlaka, she was named part of the best women\u2019s team of the City of Rijeka for 2025 by the Rijeka Sports Association, as well as the best women\u2019s team of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County by the County Sports Associations\u2019 Community. She was also a member of the Croatian senior women\u2019s bowling national team, which was named the best women\u2019s team of Croatia for 2025 by Sportske novosti<\/em> and the Croatian Olympic Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Rector\u2019s Award for Sport confirms Sara\u2019s dedication, hard work, and excellence both on the sports field and in the academic environment.
